eyecandy SIGNS INC. was enlisted by Pomerleau Inc. as their wayfinding consultant in the P3 proposal for CHEO, Ottawa’s children’s hospital scheduled to break ground in 2024. Working with a list of requirements for the build, eyecandy developed a signage package that satisfies RHFAC Gold Standards. Deliverables included DPM presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents including specifications.
Each floor has its own unique theme based on Canadian landscapes. Each custom theme is built out to include contrasting colour pallets, distinctive features, and animals which accompanied the young hospital visitors on their journey.
The illustrations developed for this children’s hospital were designed to balance simplicity, warmth, and visual engagement. Each scene is composed of bold, geometric forms arranged into layered landscapes that create a sense of depth. Textured details are integrated within each shape to add tactile richness and contrast against the clean geometry. Every landscape features the floor’s specific mascot, connecting the artwork to the hospital’s broader wayfinding system and helping young visitors recognize and navigate their surroundings with ease and delight.
